OMPP backed Donald Trump’s candidacy for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize

The World Organization for Peace (OMPP · WOFP) decided to support, before the Nobel Committee, the candidacy of US President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. The proposal was approved by the organization’s ambassadors and its secretaries general in 185 nations, and its president, Carlos Peralta, set out the reasons in a column published in Ámbito.

OMPP’s mission is to back every initiative that brings humanity closer to peace and away from the abyss.

The record the organization takes into account

OMPP reviews the efforts that, in its view, justify its support: the 2020 Abraham Accords between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain; the economic normalization agreement between Serbia and Kosovo; the humanitarian ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh; the 2018–2019 summits with North Korea; and the 2025 consolidation of the ceasefire in Gaza, mediated by Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye.

At the same time, the organization calls for caution with figures about wars “ended” and warns against confusing mediation with resolution. Still, it argues that when political leadership, economic pressure and an open negotiating table align, wars can be stopped.

Russia and Ukraine, the outstanding test

OMPP recalls that on 16 January 2025 it expressed in writing its support for a permanent ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine; achieving it would be, for the organization, the ultimate measure of any leadership. It also mentions its support for the Nobel Peace Prizes awarded to Yitzhak Rabin, Yasser Arafat and Shimon Peres in 1994, and to Kofi Annan in 2001.

The organization invites Europe, NATO and regional actors to abandon the logic of blocs and move towards verifiable mutual guarantees. It describes itself as a bridge: it will support any leader who puts forward agreements with oversight, disarmament timetables and reconstruction, because peace is not a photo but a system.
