OMPP, invited to Donald Trump’s inauguration, proposed a swift peace agreement for Ukraine
The World Organization for Peace (OMPP · WOFP) was invited to the inauguration ceremony of United States President Donald Trump, which its president, Carlos Peralta, attended.
The organization, with its presidency in Madrid, its General Secretariat in Rome and secretaries general in 178 nations, presented to the presidents of the United States, Russia and Ukraine, and to NATO, a proposal to reach a swift peace agreement.
A ceasefire proposal
The initiative builds on Trump’s stated willingness to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to achieve a lasting ceasefire. OMPP calls on Putin, Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to back a ceasefire as a gesture of goodwill, before the conflict turns into a confrontation with unpredictable consequences.
For the organization, dialogue offers the right moment to bring calm to Russia and Ukraine and reassurance to a world population that fears this war could end up involving everyone.
A track record for peace
In past decades OMPP succeeded in having 192 heads of state of UN member countries sign a message of peace to the world, gathered in the book Messages of Peace for the New Millennium, opened by then UN Secretary-General Kofi A. Annan. The organization maintains that dialogue is the only path to agreements that benefit everyone.
